| I wanted to purchase the HD Mate-23 to hook up my xbox 360 and Playstation 3 to my 23" cinema display. I called Gefen and they told me that they werent making them any more, is there someway i can get my hands on one. Or a similar product? HELP! |

Howdy! You are in luck! We did not completely cancel the HD Mate line. Gefen is going to release an HD Mate that is a switcher/scaler to connect to the various Apple Cinema Displays including the 23" monitor. The product is on track for a holiday release. Please check back with the website for upcoming news.

I have a simple question about the same topic.
Would a simple HDMI-DVI wire/adapter do the job for the Playstation 3 since HDMI and DVI are both digital? (with 23 inch ACD - 1080i/1080p)
...Or is it yet an other thing the ACD cant do of some bad decision made by Apple? |

Thanks for the fast reply.
However, the device is more than half the price of a playstation 3 and I do not need analog-digital conversion. Isnt there a device that does less (maybe no analog-digital conversion) that would be less expensive, or perhaps just a wire could do?

The Cinema Display has no scaler inside of it and is relying on the video card to give it the exact video resolution and timings it needs. That is why you can not connect the PS3 directly to it, or any HDTV video source.

So do you have a device that simply does digital scaling? That should be less expensive than the HD mate which does the full analog-digital conversion? |

The HDMate handles digital scaling and is hdcp passthrough.

How circular the answers given by Gefen.
As PS3's are poppin'up, there's a need to
connect these to dvi monitors like that
from Apple. Preferrably with DVI through,
so that the Mac can also be using the monitor
without plugging/unplugging all the time.
All we ask is a pure digital 1-on-1, timed
signal pass-through. NO SCALING.
60 lines of black at the top, 60 on the bottom:
from 1900x 1200 to 1900x1080 progressive, if you may.
Is that too darn hard to ask? |
